Committee News – June 2006
For those new to the school, the
committee is responsible for reviewing both policy and practice and for the
employment and appraisal of members of staff. We held an EGM last month when
Kate Lemon was finally officially elected chairman, having being filling this
role for almost all of the past year. We would also like to welcome Sara Janes and
Jan Tyley to the committee. Of course, with nearly half the children leaving
pre-school at the end of the year, the committee will go through its usual
depletion in numbers. If anyone else would like to join us, to have a say in
steering the direction the pre-school takes, please get in touch with any of
the current committee – a list is displayed in the porch. The next committee
meeting is taking place on Tuesday 11th July.
Thank you to everyone who
collected Tesco Computers for Schools vouchers. We have received just
over three hundred and fifty vouchers and are currently discussing what to
spend them on. If you find any more lurking in the bottom of your handbag,
please drop them into school. We can still bank vouchers up to the end of
September for use next year. There are also other ways to collect vouchers this
year – by recycling your used inkjet cartridges and old mobile phones (10
vouchers for each cartridge, 15 vouchers for a non-working mobile and 40
vouchers for a working mobile). If anyone wants more details about this please
contact Kate Croudace.
We are holding a Summer Fête
during the afternoon of Saturday 16th September. This is our major
fundraising event for the year. Stalls being planned include face painting,
tattoos, tombola, raffle, refreshments, cakes, popcorn, tuck shop, hook-a-duck,
toys and bric-a-brac. If anyone has any items for the tombola, or toys and
bric-a-brac that we could sell, please contact either Kate Lemon or Kate Croudace.
More importantly, we are hoping to obtain some really great prizes for the
raffle, so please consider whether any of your friends or corporate contacts
might be willing to donate a prize to a good cause.
We would like to produce some
items to sell at the fête that make use of drawings and paintings done by the
children. This is most likely to be in the form of a calendar. Please could you
return the slip below to pre-school, giving us permission to use any artwork
done by your child in this way, and also whether you are happy for the work to
be credited to them (forenames only).
I give/refuse* permission for the artwork of _______________ to be used by the pre-school for fundraising purposes.
I am happy for/do not wish* their work to be named.
