Committee News – June 2007
New Manager
We
are delighted to be able to tell you that we have appointed Carol Stratford as
Manager of the Pre-School from September 2007. Carol is a qualified Foundation
Stage Teacher and Co-ordinator who lives in the village and is looking to cut
back on the hours she works after having her first child. She will be working
in Pre-School three days a week. Nikki and Michelle will continue to lead sessions
when Carol is not present.
Working with
School
We’d
just like to reassure everyone that we are no longer taking the Pre-School
children into the school playground at break time. It quickly became apparent
that it was just too frenetic for us to be able to guarantee the safety of the
Pre-Schoolers. We are allowing the younger school children in to play in our
area at break time, especially those who have only recently left Pre-School and
still have friends here. Those of you who have already done your parent-helper
stint this term will be aware that some of the Reception children are coming
across every day (with a TA). Please be assured that they are following the
planning of the Class 1 teacher and have their own specific learning goals for
each visit. As with our children, because they are still in the Foundation
Stage, a great deal of their learning is “learning through play”. We benefit
from their visits by being able to include our older children in these
activities.
Changes
to committee
Now
that OFSTED has processed our registration we are letting Rebecca Vaughan
escape from committee. Thanks for all your hard work Becs! In one last selfless
act she has volunteered her husband, James. We’d therefore like to welcome
James and Belinda Brierty who have now both joined the committee. If anyone
else is interested in joining the committee please speak to a current member.
Open Day
Thanks
to everyone who contributed towards the Open Day. It was a bit of a rush last
week trying to get everything organised in time and to turn the junk rooms into
an “Office” and “Computer Room”.
Although we didn’t set out to do a lot of fundraising we managed to make over
£300 on the day. More importantly, we have had interest from some potential new
parents for places from September.
Uniform
I’m
sure that you’ve all noticed how dashing all the staff are looking in their new
uniforms. If you would like to purchase uniform for your child please fill in
the slip below and return it to Pre-School by Friday 13th July.
Samples are available in Pre-School.
