Committee News – October 2007
Staff changes
It
is with regret that I have to inform you that Carol Stratford resigned last
week. She was finding it harder than expected to leave Phoebe, which I’m sure
we can all sympathise with. Carol has done a great job during the few weeks she
has been with us and has volunteered her help in the future (as long as it’s
evenings or weekends!) Carol will be working out her notice period to half-term.
I
am very pleased to be able to report that Louise Hammond has accepted the job
of manager of the Pre-School. She will be taking straight over from Carol after
half-term. Many of you will know Louise if you have older children at school or
have a long connection with the Pre-School. Louise has vast experience of
working with children, particularly those in the 2-6 age range, both in
Pre-Schools and schools. She is part way to achieving Senior Practitioner
status via a “Foundation Degree in Early Years” with the Open University (a
level 5 qualification).
Louise
is currently working as a Teaching Assistant at St Laurence and often has the
responsibility for delivering the Foundation Stage curriculum to the younger
members of Class 1. With the school’s blessing, from half-term she will be
reducing her days in school in order to work in Pre-School for two days a week.
Hopefully, the two jobs will nicely complement each other and allow us to
continue to build strong links with the school across the whole of the
Foundation Stage. Welcome Louise and good luck!
We
also have a new Pre-School assistant. Judith Wilkinson is working on Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday mornings as a third member of staff to cover our rising
numbers. Judith lives in Dorchester and has worked at Dorchester Pre-School in
the past. Judith has fitted in so well that it would be easy to forget that she
has only been with us for a fortnight, especially given the excitement of the
past week.
Leah
Nichol, Harvey’s mum, has also recently joined us to work as bank staff and is
currently covering Thursday and Friday mornings as a third member of staff. If
any other parents would like to be added to our supply of bank staff
(particularly if you have any qualifications!) please let me know. It is always
useful to have as many CRB checked people as possible who are able to work in
Pre-School in emergencies.
Uniform
Last call for extra uniform. We will be placing a new
order soon so please let me know by Friday 12th if you need any
more.
AGM
A quick reminder that our AGM is taking place on
Monday 15th October at 8pm at Pre-School. Wine and nibbles will be
served. If anyone is interested in joining the committee, please feel free to
grab any committee member for more information. We shall be voting on whether
to pass our yearly review of the policies. These are an important document,
which form the basis of the contract between the Pre-School and parents.
Several policies have undergone substantial revision, mainly as a result of the
move to the new building. If you would like to be able to read the revised
policies before the AGM, there will be a copy placed in the lobby next week.
Admissions
The committee will be reverting back to dealing with
admissions from half-term. If you wish to put your child’s name down for extra
sessions, please contact me in the first instance (see below for details).
Gift Wrap
Please could you remember to return all orders for
Northbrook gift wrap by half-term.
